About Me

Scott Adams was diagnosed with celiac disease in 1994, and, due to the nearly total lack of information available at that time, was forced to become an expert on the disease in order to recover. In 1995 he launched the site that later became Celiac.com to help as many people as possible with celiac disease get diagnosed so they can begin to live happy, healthy gluten-free lives.  He is co-author of the book Cereal Killers, and founder and publisher of the (formerly paper) newsletter Journal of Gluten Sensitivity. In 1998 he founded The Gluten-Free Mall which he sold in 2014. Celiac.com does not sell any products, and is 100% advertiser supported.

  1. Feel Good Foods is voluntarily recalling its Gluten-Free Plain and Everything flavored Cream Cheese Stuffed Mini Bagels. The products may contain undeclared gluten that may be present due to cross-contamination. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to gluten run the risk of serious allergic reaction if they consume these products. The Gluten...
  2. I hope your recovery continues, and just want to ask what type of supplementation your doctor has you on since finding out you have osteoporosis?
  3. Hello @brian1, it sounds like you're based in the UK, is that correct? I am not sure what the rules are there but one of our moderators @cristiana may know. Have you had your nutrient levels checked? Low levels of certain vitamins can cause energy level issues. The most common nutrient deficiencies associated with celiac disease that may lead to...
  4. The current medical recommendation is for all first degree relatives of those with celiac disease to be screened for it on a regular basis. Hopefully you've let your relatives know, but if not, it's a good idea because you might help one of them from years of suffering or worse.
  5. Celiac.com 04/13/2024 - In recent legal proceedings, a Biden-appointed judge made a significant decision that could impact the way prisoners receive medical care, particularly concerning dietary needs. The case in question, Phoenix v Amonette...
  6. Belgian Yummies of Fort Myers, FL, is alerting the public that its 4-ounce packages of Ice Cream Sandwiches and 5-liter containers and 4.75-liter pans of Gelato contains undeclared allergens. Belgian Yummies Sandwiches, flavors of Vanilla, Chocolate, Raspberry, Salted Caramel, Key Lime, and Peanut Butter, contain undeclared wheat, soy, egg, coconut...
  7. Both of my kids and my brother ended up having gluten issues--I'm positive for both DQ2 and DQ8, and got one gene from each parent. My mother also has celiac disease.
  8. If you look at the related articles below this article you will see the case of Paul Seelig, who went to prison for many years by doing exactly the same thing, but he sold regular bread and marked it as gluten-free.
  9. I've never heard of this before, may I ask who told you this, and where in the filter might there be gluten?
  10. For people with celiac disease hidden gluten in their diets is the main cause of elevated Tissue Transglutaminase IgA Antibodies (tTG-IgA), but there are other conditions, including cow's milk/casein intolerance, that can also cause this, and here is an article about the other possible causes:
  11. Many people with celiac disease, especially those who are in the 0-2 year range of their recovery, have additional food intolerance issues which could be temporary. To figure this out you may need to keep a food diary and do an elimination diet over a few months. Some common food intolerance issues are dairy/casein, eggs, corn, oats, and soy. The...
  12. On of our site sponsors specializes in this: https://www.tierrafarm.com/
  13. Fluoride helps to re-mineralize enamel and make it more resistant to decay. Do you use fluoride toothpaste?
  14. I haven't heard of this oven, but it looks great. I was considering getting a pizza stone to make my gluten-free pizzas more crisp, and will look into this. Let us know how it goes!
