Shining a spotlight on our incredible Admin Professionals 💼💙 Today, on Administrative Professionals Day, we want to say a huge thank you to the amazing teams behind the scenes at UHS. Whether it’s greeting patients with a friendly smile, keeping everything running smoothly, or supporting colleagues across departments — you are the heartbeat of our hospitals. Thank you for all that you do — we truly couldn’t do it without you. #AdminProfessionalsDay #WeAreUHS #ThankYou #TeamUHS #LeadTheWay
I've spent a really great morning visiting various admin teams across University Hospital Southampton NHS FT some themes I already knew, but this morning's visits have made me think about the following: 1. Administrative staff keep our health service going, without them the whole thing would come to a halt. Who books your appointment? Who answers your queries? Who directs you to the right place? Who rearranges everything when the clinican is away or off sick? Who answers the phone when you need to check up on a loved one? Who helps with parking? I could go on...... > What can we all do to raise the profile and recognise this contribution? 2. Most of this goes on unseen behind closed doors, so the voices of admin staff are often not heard or valued. > How can we amplify these voices and ensure the experience and knowledge is valued, and included in decision making? 3. If a Doctor is off work unexpectedly the clinic is cancelled, if an administrator is off work their colleague on the next desk takes on their work, as well as their own. > What more can we do to protect and advocate for our Admin staff and not break them? 4. Our admin teams are vulnerable in these times of financial challenge. > How can we ensure we don't remove critical infrastructure in the name of financial savings, and risk losing vital roles, which then places extra burden on clinical staff, and in turn impacts negatively on patient experience? The photo is the Therapies admin team (109 years of NHS experience between them!) Thank you to Yentel Eslick for being my trolley buddy and an awesome leadership advocate for Admin colleagues. #Proud2bAdmin #WeAreUHS

How does access to specialist allergy care compare across the UK? A new report produced by The British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology Registry for Immunotherapy (BRIT) has highlighted "concerning inequalities". Findings suggest the availability of immunotherapy varies in different parts of the country. It may also be less accessible to people living in deprived areas and those from ethnic minority backgrounds. Mich Lajeunesse from University Hospital Southampton NHS FT (UHS) says "we need to better understand the barriers that exist and develop targeted interventions". 📢 UHS has one of the largest allergy and immunology centres in the country. It is a World Allergy Organization National Centre of Excellence. Read more 👉 https://lnkd.in/eDagjBey
