Criminal defense lawyer, Haitham Amin started his career at the Solano Public Defenders Office before continuing as a Deputy Public Defender at the Marin County Office. After gaining invaluable experience in his work with the public, Haitham decided to open his private practice, the Amin Law firm in San Francisco in 20132.
As the Principal Attorney at Amin Law, Haitham limits the number of cases he accepts in order to give each of his clients the personal attention they deserve while working closely together through collaborative work practices. Amin Law firm has seen exponential growth since its’ beginning and that can be attributed to Haitham’s hands-on approach to growing his brand using social media. Social media can be a make or break tool when it comes to branding these days, but not everyone gets it right. Haitham recognizes the importance of engaging with followers and working for your personal brand on social media instead of thinking that it will come to you. He often emphasizes the social part of social media and takes advantage of tools like direct messaging as a means of engaging. Navigating the current ad space can be just as tricky as navigating the law at times but Haitham shows that both can be done through hard work and creativity.

Let’s start by telling us about your business.
Amin Law firm handles all types of legal matters from criminal defense, auto accident and family law to family law. No matter what the issue is, Amin Law has the experience needed to provide peace of mind as well as aggressive yet caring advocacy for our clients every step of the way.
Please tell us how you make sure your customers will become raving fans of your company?
I make it a rule to keep case loads low so that I am able to devote the amount of time that each client deserves from me in order for all of their needs to be met and for them to be listened to. So many people today just want to be listened to and not only that, but for someone to care about what they are saying. Caring is such an important part of my job in order for us both to have a good outcome and that is something that just cannot be faked.
Q: Please tell us the one thing that separates your business from the competition?
Experience. When a person is facing an arrest or other legal matter, it is going to be the most difficult thing that they are facing in their life at that moment and they are going to want someone that has that real life, hands-on experience standing behind them like a lion. It is going to make them feel like they will get through it. I have that experience; I can bring the aggression they need; the lion-like tenacity where it counts but my experience has also taught me a lot of empathy too which is equally important.
Q: And to finish this section, please tell us what is the one major key to your company’s success?
I have been able to grow my personal brand through social media and I genuinely believe in the social aspect of it. I try to post every day; you’ll see me engaging with my followers where other lawyers may not take that advantage but you can’t ignore those opportunities.
Q: For our readers just starting to build a company, what advice can you give entrepreneurs just starting out with a new venture?
Trust your instincts and take risks. Don’t postpone decisions because they seem too risky. Being afraid of failure or of making mistakes can cause you to be left behind while the risk takers pass you by.

Learn how to adapt with the times. If one strategy isn’t bringing desired results, pivot.
Q: In today’s fast changing business environment, how do you stay abreast of things?
You really need to have an online presence. Social media is great for this because you can be so many different places at once. Engaging with followers is unbelievably valuable because you are finding out what real people are feeling about current issues which will be so much more informative than even the latest news article you just read.
Q: What is your “Why”? In one sentence, why do you get up in the morning?
I get up because I love what I do, and I am excited about how I am going to use my day to grow my business.

You need to be a great person first; one that generates value and trust within the community.

My clients are of the upmost importance to my business.

Technology can make the world a better place by connecting humans and bringing us all closer in a way that was never possible before.

I like to start the day with a little caffeine and spending time on thoughtful meditation.

Rejection is just a steppingstone on your way to the next step and setbacks don’t have to be setbacks if you have a positive attitude and keep moving in a forward direction.

I want individuals on my team that have passion but are willing to step outside of their comfort zone.

Stay focused on your own personal growth, when you see how you have improved from one day to the next it is very motivating and helps you keep sane.
