Ben Affleck

The performer possesses considerable expertise in Congolese matters, having extensively traveled in the region and established the nonprofit Eastern Congo Initiative. However, earlier this year, the GOP-controlled House Foreign Relations Committee allegedly judged him as not adequately qualified to testify. In contrast, the Senate counterpart embraced his testimony on the challenges faced by Congo

Matt Damon

While filming a movie in Sub-Saharan Africa, actor Matt Damon had a firsthand look at the challenges faced by a community grappling with the global water crisis. Spending considerable time with families in a Zambian village, he observed the dire consequences of their limited access to water and sanitation facilities. This experience motivated Matt Damon to dedicate himself to addressing the global water crisis. Consequently, in 2006, he established the H20 Africa Foundation with the goal of raising awareness about safe water initiatives on the continent. Later, Matt Damon and Gary White joined forces, merging H20 Africa with Water Partners International to form Water.org.

Naomi Campbell

Supermodel Naomi Campbell's philanthropic efforts in late 2018-2019 concentrated on elevating Africa's presence in the global fashion landscape and tapping into the talents of its people to transform the continent into a global force. Speaking as the keynote at the 2019 Forbes Woman Africa Leading Woman Summit, Campbell expressed her belief that "The African continent is absolutely, one hundred and one percent, the future." Furthermore, Campbell actively supports UNAIDS in its mission to eradicate AIDS by 2030. In 2016, she generously donated $100,000, dividing the amount between the British organization Save the Children and UNAIDS.

Established in 2012 by Rihanna, the Clara Lionel Foundation is dedicated to backing innovative and impactful education as well as emergency response initiatives globally. Through Rihanna's influential voice, the foundation actively participates in global advocacy efforts, aiming to enhance the quality of life for youth worldwide. Present initiatives under the foundation involve primary and secondary education programs in Malawi, Barbados, and Senegal.

Shakira

Singer Shakira initiated the Barefoot campaign to collaborate with boys and girls whose lives have been impacted by violence and poverty, with the ultimate goal of eliminating the loss of young human potential to poverty, malnutrition, and violence.

Understanding that merely providing teachers and schools is insufficient in the face of extreme poverty, the Barefoot Foundation is dedicated to ensuring that children are not compelled to learn on empty stomachs or within broken homes. Presently, the Barefoot Foundation backs six schools operated by Pies Descalzos and is involved in initiatives in Haiti and South Africa.

Case Study: Live Aid

Live Aid stands as a prime example of a successful philanthropic concert, generating over $125 million for famine relief (equivalent to over $300 million today). Executed within a swift 10-week timeframe, the event took place on July 13, 1985, at Wembley Stadium in London. Prince Charles and Princess Diana officially inaugurated Live Aid, a global rock concert aimed at raising funds for famine-stricken Ethiopians.

The concert extended to JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, where Joan Baez kickstarted the event by declaring to the audience, "this is your Woodstock, and it's long overdue." It also unfolded in various arenas worldwide, creating a 16-hour SuperConcert that was interconnected globally by thirteen satellites, reaching nearly two billion viewers across 110 nations.

Case Study: Live Aid

History, with an estimated audience of 1.9 billion spanning 150 nations tuning in for the live transmission.

Live Aid reached 95% of the world's TV sets, delivering a mono TV feed while offering stereo simulcast sound on BBC Radio 1. The broadcast was coordinated by the BBC, MTV, and syndicated channels. The song "Do They Know It's Christmas?"—penned by Bob Geldof and Ultravox singer Midge Ure—was performed by the ensemble "Band Aid," featuring Culture Club, Duran Duran, Phil Collins, U2, Wham!, and others, raising over $10 million. The majority of these artists performed either at London's Wembley Stadium, drawing a crowd of 70,000, or Philadelphia's JFK Stadium, attended by 100,000.

The Health Aid Africa Concert is adopting the Live Aid model, transforming it into a global livestream and in-person concert platform. Leveraging today's technology and the Internet at a significantly lower cost, the Health Aid Africa Concert has the potential to greatly enhance everyone's experience.
