Sierra AI agents can now pick up the phone. Millions of people have chatted with AI agents powered by Sierra, to set up a Sonos speaker, to get a Casper mattress delivered, or to manage their SiriusXM subscription. Thanks to all the recent advances in AI, chatting with AI has become mainstream and delightful. But for most consumer brands, chat is rarely the most important channel. People still prefer to call companies on the phone, and for good reason. Calling an expert remains the most effective way to solve many problems. Despite billions of dollars of investment in conversational AI, no one has been able to bring the delight of AI agents to phone calls. We’re still left with long hold times, broken transfers, and confusing phone trees (“Press 7 for billing issues”). This process is creating digital knowledge that we call AI Agents. Agents can reason, take action and help employees and with customer service. Physics AI is a new AI we’re working on that understands physics - it will allow retailers to create a physically accurate digital twin of their stores or distribution centers. Physics AI will understand how people and objects behave, and will therefore help stores with layout. Stores still represent 80% of revenue for retailers. Many companies have built out AI strategies to adjust to these new parading, but that being said there is still plenty of room for most organizations to further refine those strategies. Could AR/VR Revolutionize AI Workflows? The spotlight shifted from AR/VR to generative AI over the past few years, but I think we're about to come full circle. Working with generative AI is both fascinating and complex, often requiring the juggling of numerous tools and processes. I find myself increasingly convinced that emerging technologies like augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) will take orchestrating these workflows to a new level. Working with AI often feels like juggling flaming torches while balancing on a tightrope. For example, I might need to: - Retrieve a record from a spreadsheet - Merge data from record into a prompt template - Send newly merged prompt to AI and capture response - Continue with N number of addition steps in prompt chain - Write final response back to spreadsheet column - Repeat this entire process for each row of the spreadsheet Handling these tasks all at once is overwhelming, underscoring the complexity of AI workflows and the mental strain they impose. And that's why tools like Google's Notebook LM and OpenAI's Canvas are so valuable and welcome. Despite these advancements, we are still constrained, and I often feel like I need 10 arms to juggle everything. Now imagine integrating AR/VR technologies into our daily interactions with AI. Picture the iconic scenes from Minority Report, where data floats mid-air, easily manipulated with simple gestures. Such an interface could fundamentally enhance our ability to manage, visualize, and interact with complex AI processes, making them far more accessible and intuitive. Envision an AR/VR environment with: - Interactive 3D AI Components: AI models and data appear as tangible objects you can move and connect with natural gestures. - Dynamic Data Visualization: Abstract processes become concrete visuals, making complex data flows easier to understand. - Seamless Navigation: Voice commands and intuitive controls allow you to traverse through layers of information effortlessly and route the data you need through a 3D representation of your context resources and processing endpoints.
